Beck – Modern Guilt
July 2, 2008
Beck’s new album Modern Guilt, produced with Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton, will be released July 8, 2008.
The new album contains 10 new songs, and with the exception of last year’s Grammy-nominated, digital-only single “Timebomb”, Modern Guilt is the first new material Beck has written since the prolific stretch that produced 2005’s platinum Guero and 2006’s universally acclaimed The Information.
Modern Guilt is a tightly assembled group of songs that range in lyrical tone from introspection and social commentary to off the cuff wordplay and lighthearted humor. Musically, the album’s ten tracks vacillate between economy and experimentation, hybrid and pop classicism, while consistently manifesting Beck and Danger Mouse’s shared interest in psych-rock, folk, electronic minimalism and orchestration.
Beck is about to embark on a tour of the UK and Europe, followed by a number of US headline and festival appearances, culminating in Beck’s biggest hometown headline show to date, September 20, 2008 at the Hollywood Bowl.
Coldplay – Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
June 9, 2008
This is a RCD rip (or a good imitation of one), so you won’t find any higher quality recording of this on the internet at least until the album comes out (June 17th in the US). This album “leaked” a few days ago, but one of the songs was .wma (so if you downloaded that version, trash it…this one is better).
I’m not a Coldplay fanatic, but if you are, check this out. (Brian Eno produced it)

Search The City – A Fire So Big The Heavens Can See It
June 7, 2008(re-up’d)
As I’m sure many of you have noted, the majority of new music is complete garbage. Listening to the crap they play on the radio is just about enough to make me puke.
Good news: Search The City.
This band has restored my faith in radio-friendly alt rock music. They have a sound similar to Acceptance, Sing It Loud, Anberlin, and Secret & Whisper. Listen to track 1, Son Of A Gun, for some really fantastic song-writing.
Grand Ole Party – Humananimals
May 15, 2008You know how usually opening bands are frequently mediocre?
Not Grand Ole Party. I first had the pleasure of hearing them when they opened for Rilo Kiley this past September (Blake Sennet produced this album actually) and they literally rock. Lead singer Kristen Gundred sounds a lot like Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but their overall sound has a slightly more classic rock edge. Download this but try and see them live for the full effect!
Anberlin Discography
April 30, 2008
Anberlin’s music features talented song writing and wonderful melodies. They are one of my favorite bands of all time. All their studio albums are very solid, and worth checking out. They have recently announced plans to release a new album. New Surrender is set to be released in August of 2008.

Fleming & John – Ugly Girl
April 22, 2008
Fleming and John are another musical husband/wife duo (like Mates of State) that met at college in Nashville and began making sweet sweet music together!
In the past they’ve opened for friend and fan Ben Folds, who called them the “Carpenters of the 1990s with Led Zeppelin’s rhythm section,” and they continue to perform and record with Folds from time to time.
This is track is from their album “The Way We Are” that was released in 1999 but it’s still a good one to have in the music library!
